Claire Francine

I cannot believe our sweet Claire turns ONE tomorrow, where did the time go? The year has flown by so quickly we could hardly remember her so tiny. They really don’t stay little for long and these newborn photos of her fresh and wrinkly gives me all the feels as I’ve been reminiscing big time this week planning her 1st birthday party.

Claire was just 9 days new here and a true bundle of joy we couldn’t get enough of. Colette also couldn’t keep her hands off her brand new sister and adored her from the very first sight. We didn’t think we could ever love as much as we did with Colette but when Claire was born that love doubled and our hearts even fuller. Watching these two baby angels of ours bond and grow up together has been the greatest blessings and we love being a family of four so much, it just feels so right.

I wanted to keep this shoot to feel pure so I kept everything very clean and neutral.  My hair and makeup was simple and light. I didn’t want anything distracting to take away focus from our newest bundle of joy.

Expecting Claire

Being a busy working mom while pregnant and having a toddler to chase after, I wasn’t sure if I would have time for another maternity shoot. The farther along I was the more connected I felt with my growing baby every time I felt her little kicks and movements, I started dreaming about her and what she looks like. I really cherished that moment in my life where I had a baby in my arms and another growing inside me so I knew I had to capture it.

At the time I also felt like it was a little bit of a bittersweet feeling, thinking that our time as a family of three was about to change, although we were ready and excited to become a family of four. We just settled in and found our family’s balance and life has been just us I felt it was something I really wanted to remember one last time because I might miss it.

I was 34 weeks pregnant here and the weather was just perfect that day. I chose this location again because its our favorite and Colette’s obsessed with the ocean so it was a fun place for everyone. For our looks, I kept our outfits neutral like the palettes of the ocean. I love wavy hair for all occasions particularly for outdoor photos and all neutrals for makeup.

Looking at these photos makes me so happy because I see that fun day watching Colette run freely, build sand castles and my best friend Michelle came out to play with her while we took pictures. Colette was also very concerned about her Big sister sign when she thought we were going to leave it behind in the sand, she ran back to take it and that turned out to be one of my favorite photo that day. I enjoy the behind the scene memories that were create during photoshoots more than the photos themselves.

Ann’s Wedding

I love everything about Ann’s wedding! Her dress, flowers and all the pretty blush bridesmaid dresses, everything soft and romantic. Once a bride tells me their theme I made sure there hair and makeup ties in especially the colors. My favorite looks for a blush wedding are always warm smokey browns on the eye lids, dewy skin and pink hues for cheeks and lips. We did airbrush foundation on everyone to achieve that natural glowy skin and soft waves on all the bridesmaids. Ann’s hair was strategically pinned into a low bun which can be taken off later in the evening so that it’s half down. Everyone looked so beautiful and chic, I love the final results and the photographs are so dreamy.

Mommy and Colette

These Mommy and Me sessions are definitely becoming my favorite, they’re so precious and gives me all the feels.

We took these around Mother’s day this year which meant May Gray in California, so the only time the lighting was good was during sunset which meant Colette’s bedtime. We thought since she loves being at the beach and having her dad around to make her laugh, it would be fine. Boy were we wrong! Don’t mess with babies and their sleep schedules.

Colette’s normally the happiest baby and a natural in front of the camera but right when we were about to start, she shook her head as soon as her toes touched the sand. She only wanted to be held and signed for some milk. The wind didn’t help either she was making chattering noises and being quite dramatic bundled in her blankie,  you can see in some of the pictures she was not having it but somehow I find it so adorable and kind of funny.

Felt so bad that she was cold and wasn’t having a good time,  so we wrapped up after 10- 15 minutes. Although, we didn’t get many shots of her alone, the few that we do have, I absolutely love! Having an amazing photographer is really everything.

Instead of taking pictures, our family enjoyed watching the sunset together and then headed out to a relaxing dinner near by. Its always these sweet moments with my family that I’ll cherish forever and what I think about every time I look at these images. 🙂

Enchanted 1st Birthday

Our baby girl turns 1! I wanted something very special for her big celebration and while planning her party it started to feel as if I were planning her wedding. A beautiful photoshoot was in the order, which has the same importance to me as engagement photos are for weddings.

She’s our little princess, so naturally I went with a fairytale themed 1st birthday party called, Colette’s Enchanted ONEderland. This shoot was a preview to her party and anything enchanted to me meant outdoor forest “magical” setting. The problem was she’s still a baby and needed to nap every 2 hours so we couldn’t go to an actual forest. Luckily for us, there’s a park down the street from our house that we take her to all the time and I just knew it would work.

Once the location was set, next up was wardrobe! Styling outfits has always been my favorite part! Hunting for the perfect little dress for this princess of mine wasn’t easy but when I stumbled upon her dress I just knew it was the one! It has a champagne gold sequined top and a full feather and tulle skirt, which sort of resembles my wedding gown in a way. I still swoon over her pretty dress every time I look at it. Once I found her dress the rest all came together.

For the family part of the shoot I wanted everyone to look effortless and not over styled. My husband’s tailored navy suit and a wool cable sweater really complimented Colette’s gold and ivory dress. I went with a deep red colored dress to add to a winter feel. My makeup was darker then usual, I decided on berry stained lips and dark smokey eyes to add contrast to Colette’s innocent and pure look.

I kept the props minimal, just a couple vintage crowns and fresh hydrangeas was all that was needed nothing too busy. A lot of the details were hand-made because I wanted everything to be very special and memorable. I also baked her cake for the first time!

We were all so excited to see her to smash the cake the entire time but our little lady is truly a princess, she cried the minute the frosting got on her fingers! It was her first time tasting anything sweet and her reaction was just the funniest, she hated it and wanted nothing to do with it. She started whining and on the verge of crying when we tried to get her to smash her cake, so no cake smashing after all. Bummer! It was also nap time for her so I decided to throw some “fairy dust” on her cute little feet right before she fell asleep.

It was so much fun watching her take pictures, we just love her so much and couldn’t wait for her big party!

My Fairytale

View More:

I’ve always wanted wedding photos in the woods, something about a white dress in the forest just seems so magical to me. I wanted to wear my real wedding dress for this shoot and since we weren’t getting married in a forest, I knew I wanted to do a stylize shoot after the wedding. That way I don’t reveal my dress to Sean prior to our Big Day and it gives me an excuse to wear my dress again!

Fortunately for me, I have a husband that was willing to take lots of photos and a fairytale photographer to make my dreams come true.

Styling info: I was going for an enchanted/ethereal look which meant hair and makeup needed to be clean and groomed. Instead of my usual loose waves, I styled my waves curlier, shinier and more structurally placed. Makeup was soft and pretty, light smokey browns on the eyes and peach tones on cheeks and lips. Dress by Lazaro.

Sean’s wearing an Ernenegildo Zegna tux, bowtie and cummerbund are from Sak’s fifth.

I love weddings and am always happy when one of my friends gets married especially when its a very close friend!

I was honored that Liz asked me to do her hair and makeup for her big day! Although, I was now getting her glammed up for her wedding day and homecoming or prom, not much has changed since our high school days when we’re together. Liz had be to ready bright and early at the beautiful Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. Getting her and the bridal party dolled up was just so much fun and nostalgic. Backstreet boys was playing on the stereo, lots of laughs and references about our high school day and LOTS of hot pinks, Liz’s favorite color!

I wanted to incorporate her favorite color into her makeup look somehow so I decided to go with a YSL lip stain in a fuchsia pink color and kept the rest of her makeup clean and flawless with very neutral eyes and a winged out liner for some glam. Half up hair style with some loose curls really suits her and completed her look. She looked absolutely stunning and was gleaming, I was so happy to be apart of her big day. Congrats Liz and Ryan!

Glammed Engagement shoot

I did two different engagement shoots that are completely different, a cute casual spring day look and a classic glammed night look.

Sean is obsessed with the 60s so I wanted to do something old Hollywood glam/Mad men-esque with more modern twist because I wanted us to still be us and not be in character.

Day look: Loose natural wavy hair, soft smokey amber and brown eyes, my favorite peach lipstick YSL #30 and peach tones for cheeks. Outfit: I was hunting for a white lace dress for months, but after being unsuccessful, I sketched up a design, searched for  ivory lace fabric and brought it to a tailor who was be able to make it, luckily it was a success!

Night look: I decided on more of a modern sleek hair with some slight loose finger waves, a heavier black winged liner and a classic red YSL Rouge Pur Couture #1. Outfit: Gold DVF dress, leopard clutch. Sean’s wearing an Ermernegildo Zegna Tux.

Pure and Simple – Colette at 6 months

I’m sharing one of my favorite shoots to date today, my baby girl’s 6 months photo session. I wanted a shoot that was focused on her sweetness and innocence.

I went for an organic feel with simple clothing and minimal props. Colette and I spend most of our days snuggling and playing on our bed,  so it was the perfect setting for us.

Styling info: I went for a very clean and natural look with my hair and makeup. I wanted that organic feel so I braved it and skipped the faux eyelashes, kept my makeup to a bare minimum, by using some crème blush and a soft rosy satin lipstick for some color. Both dresses on me are from Anthropology.

Colette is wearing Baby Gap Organic Cotton Collection and a vintage dress.

Carol’s wedding took place at the beautiful Omni Hotel in San Diego. The weather was perfect and everyone was so fun to work with! We got Carol, her 7 bridesmaids and mother ready for her big day at 6 AM and everyone was ready by 11 Am.

Carol wanted something natural, soft and romantic. We decided on half up-do for her hair and soft makeup for her, she looked like a blushing bride! I used airbrush foundation on her skin, Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 for smokey brown eyes and mixed natural blushy pinks on apples of the cheeks and kept her lips a soft pinks color. The rest of the bridal party had smokey eyes and soft coral/peaches on cheeks and lips and Carol picked out the hair style for each of the ladies. Everyone looked so beautiful and elegant, what a gorgeous bridal party!
